On January 17, 2008, the OBBSEPS hosted a presentation by 3dh with a look towards future instructional opportunities. 3dh, which stands for 3D HoloProjection, uses cutting-edge 3D technology for several different markets, including education. 3dh showed members of the entire school several examples of their work, including an engine, a heart, and scenes from a Florida State University football game.
OBBSEPS is studying the possibility of using 3D technology for some of their majors, specifically Exercise Science and Sports Medicine and Interior Design. “The 3D technology gives us the ability to absorb the image in a different format. The image comes alive,” Associate Dean Chuck Sands said. Sands also said that there is potential for the program, specifically because the school already has much of the equipment necessary to use the technology. OBBSEPS plans to study the format further before making any decisions.
